The premiere choice for downtown Bakersfield hotels, The Padre Hotel first opened its doors in 1928.  After being closed for several years, we're shaking off the dust to reveal a casually sophisticated boutique hotel and entertainment venue.  After a long day out in the oil fields, working on the farm, or just exploring Bakersfield, come unwind in our luxurious guest rooms or enjoy one of five unique food and beverage venues. Guests of the hotel are required to be 21 years of age, unless accompanied by an adult.

Our Hotel Rooms

The rooms and suites at The Padre Hotel offer fresh design schemes, high-end amenities, and teak furnishings creating the perfect balance between style and substance.

The Padre Hotel’s rooms fall into four room types:  40 Winks, Double Deuce, Maverick, and Corner Pocket Rooms, and three distinctive suite categories: Head Honcho, the Farmer's Daughter, and the Oil Baron Suites.

Oil Baron Suite

This 825 sq foot suite is unlike any other room you've stayed in before.  This suite is designed to enjoy, entertain, or just unwind.  With a 60" flatscreen TV, Wet bar, dining area and guest restroom, you will want to show this room off to your friends.  The bathroom has a jacuzzi tub, step-in shower and H2O bath and spa products.

Farmer's Daughter's Suite

This 685 sq foot suite is romance at its best. Swanky, posh and sophisticated, this room makes a statement.  With a 50" flat screen TV, Wet bar, view of Bakersfield's famous Fox Theater tower. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub, step-in shower and H2O bath and spa products.

Head Honcho Room

A suite to fit anyone’s liking, the Head Honcho is available in two styles. With 450 square feet, private living room and Jacuzzi tub, flatscreen televisions, and fantastic corner views, our Head Honchos are the perfect place to kick off your boots and relax!

Double Deuce Room

This 400 square ft room includes 2 full-size Isoform mattresses, a shower tub combo in bathroom, and chair and ottoman for extra comfort. Perfect for those traveling together or families who need a little extra room.

Corner Pocket Room

Positioned in the corner of each floor, these rooms make the others jealous with their double views, vaulted ceilings and beautiful natural lighting. Unwind as you melt into our California King Isoform mattress, enjoy our flatscreen televisions, step-in shower and spacious vanity area; you’ll arise feeling refreshed and rejuvenated…but don’t worry, you don’t have to get out of bed quite yet…..room service is just a call away.

Maverick Room

For all you tired cowboys and cowgirls after a long day’s work, come enjoy our Maverick room. With a perfect 400 square foot space, California King mattress, chair, ottoman, lamp and flat screen, step-in shower and large vanity, we’ll have you singing ‘Home sweet home!’

*This room is also available in ADA form with doorbell and handheld roll-in shower features.

40 Winks Room

With 255 square feet, California King bed and 40” flat screen television, our 40 Winks rooms beckons weary travelers far and wide. Considered our standard room, we guarantee you’ll catch at least 40 winks of sleep; and we’ve saved a little something special just for you….. this room is the only style in the house that features a completely glass enclosed shower for that extra touch of modern comfort.

*This style is the only one available for connecting rooms.

Weather

Bakersfield has a Desert climate with long, hot, dry summers, and brief, cool, wet winters. In fact, Bakersfield is one of the sunniest cities in the United States. Bakersfield enjoys long-lasting, mild autumns and early springs, giving the region a unique climate suitable for growing a wide variety of crops (ranging from citrus to carrots to almonds and pistachios). Rainfall averages only 6.5 inches annually, mostly falling during winter and spring.

High Octane and flying fast - We brew the highest octane coffee in town.  Careful, you may need a prescription. We open at 6am sharp for those in need of a jolt on the way to the office. Breakfast is optional, unless you're looking for the best eggs in town.

Brimstone

Reminiscent of the finest saloons of 1927, this working man's bar features hardwood floors, a stamped tin ceiling, billiards, and great tunes playing in the background. Fantastic Mixologists aim to perfect your favorite elixir or maybe introduce you to something a bit daring...

The menu is rock solid, with the best whiskeys, ice cold beer, and an all day menu that ranges from sliders to pot roast. Thanks Chef, I'll toss one back for you!

Belvedere Room

The Belvedere Room presents a distinctive dining experience, whether you’re in the mood for a casual meal or a special celebratory feast.

The elegant ambiance and exceptional food uniquely combine to marry old-world style and modern tastes. The room is majestic in appearance, sophisticated in service and satisfying to the appetite.

The 20-foot high ceilings and Neoclassic elements are evocative of the grand restaurant that originally occupied this space. Tufted wall panels, luxurious custom draperies, antique style floor lamps and design details created by Graham Downes add sophisticated elements that beautifully accent the room and add to its timeless quality... and to its Padre signature.

Belvedere’s menus are based on classics and firmly rooted in the California cooking philosophy made famous by chefs like Alice Waters, with a focus on fresh, seasonal and local ingredients, the result is classic, flavorful, vibrant and satisfying food creatively reflecting the season. Wine selections that emphasize regional vineyards as well as highlights from around the world complement our dishes and contribute to an experience that is uniquely Padre.

Executive Chef Brad Wise

From the young age of 12 years old, Brad knew he was passionate about food. It all began the day he made his first cheese steak while working at a local Pizza Parlor in his hometown of Cape May, New Jersey. Brad’s cooking experience may have started in a small kitchen cooking Italian food, but it has taken off since to include a wide variety of flavors.

By 2004, Brad had graduated from the Lower Cape May Regional High School. Shortly thereafter, he took off to the Academy of Culinary Arts in Mays Landing, New Jersey which is located right outside of Atlantic City. In 2006, Brad was a proud graduate packing up his bags and moving to San Diego, California. Brad’s mentor, Chef Dave Warner, had a kitchen for him to call home. Immediately, Dave helped Brad get settled in. Before Brad knew it, he was working for JRDN Restaurant in Pacific Beach, which is a favorite area in San Diego to locals and tourists alike. By March 2007, Brad had found himself working as Chef for the first time. He would continue to work there until November 2010 as the Executive Sous Chef, alongside his best friend and Executive Chef, Dave.

By the time Brad was 25 years old a new chapter was beginning for him. He had been asked to pack his bags once again and move to Bakersfield, California to become the Executive Chef of Padre Hotel. Brad feels truly honored to work for one of the most respectable companies in the food industry, the Eat.Drink.Sleep. Corporation.

Prairie Fire

Spontaneous combustion - second floor rooftop deck, firepits, and smooth beat in the background.  Are you sure you're still in Bakersfield?  Climb those stairs early to reserve the cabana... urban nightlife was never so cool. So pull up a chair, get close to the fire, no worries here... it's a wildfire.

The Board Room 

10 Executive Seats, rich leather, walnut paneling and our best whiskey at your private bar. Includes wireless internet and flat screen for presentations. Get down to business, get the deal done, then close the laptop, plug in the iTunes and pour it.

The Stampede Room

Bring the whole company.  80 seats, full bar, breakfast, lunch or dinner.  Full multimedia available.

The Fox Room 

Seating for 35.  Have an executive retreat?  Do you need to get the kin together? This rooms works great for both!

The Fireside Room

Small and compact, but powerful.  Some day you will need our biggest room, but for now you will fill our smallest. Enjoy seating for 25 as we take care of all your meeting and dining needs.
